5 months = rice cereal!

Here's a few photos till I get my camera up and running...
We've tried Lucy on rice cereal 3 times and each time she gets the hang of it more and more and is doing really well, yay!
Let's hope this helps her sleep better since she's struggled post-swaddle...and it doesn't help that we were at summer camp, in Virginia, at camp reveal, etc. Not easy to adjust and she got a little cold somewhere in there too.

We have been going to the pool too and that has been a blast, Lucy loves water - just like her Mommy and Daddy!! We were all there today and had a lot of fun, plus it totally tires her out, which is good too! :)

Lucy is starting to fill out too, which is fun and also crazy, can't believe how big she is getting so not baby-like anymore :(
Very interested to hear her stats at her 6 month appt on Aug 21....

Helloooo

Tuckered out from the pool!

Thanks Aunt Sara for the fun shirt!

Peanut Butter Cup Brownies

Peanut Butter Cup Brownies
Recipe adapted from Nestle’s Very Best Baking
Makes 40 brownies as adapted

1 box of your favorite brownie mix
1/2 cup peanut butter chips
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup creamy peanut butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray or grease 40 mini-muffin cups.

Prepare boxed brownie mix as directed. Spoon batter evenly into muffin cups (about 1 heaping teaspoon). Bake for 13-15 minutes or until top is set and a toothpick inserted into center comes out slightly wet. After brownies are out of the oven, wait for centers to fall. This will happen upon cooling. If not then tap the centers with the back of a teaspoon to make a hole for the peanut butter.

Place peanut butter in a small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 45 seconds then stir. While brownies are still warm spoon about half a teaspoon of peanut butter into the center of each brownie. Top with semi-sweet chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. Cool completely in pan.

These are SO good, just made them a few nights ago. They are good warm and even better cooled!

Got this recipe from this fun blog: http://homeawaitsus.blogspot.com
She is also the one who I learned about Pinterest from!

Typical...home edition

So I went to Ikea on Monday....
It's a love/hate relationship with that store, lets be honest.
And though I had things to return, this was the main reason I went - see photo, they are $4 spice racks that can be used as book or magazine racks, they can even hold picture frames. And yet what did I do?? Forgot all about them and bought a bunch of other stuff instead. typical.

Regardless, I bought a bunch of frames in order to do this on my dining room wall:

And got these pillows too:

And a lamp that matches the little girl's canopy above her crib.
Despite my forgetfulness, still a fairly successful trip :)

Oh summer........

Well we have been busy with camps with the youth group, a trip to Virginia to see my brother's family and my bday. But my camera is refusing to upload photos...so I had been delaying a bday and vacay post. So in the meantime here are some lower quality pictures from my Ipod of Lucy :) Watch for 4 & 5 month pics of Lucy, camp, virginia and bday photos soon!

First time in a swing!

Being a Mom

This was a really challenging post from Justin Taylor's blog - a very good reminder

The Gospel for Moms
Rachel Jankovic, author of Loving the Little Years, writes:

Live the gospel in the things that no one sees. Sacrifice for your children in places that only they will know about. Put their value ahead of yours. Grow them up in the clean air of gospel living. Your testimony to the gospel in the little details of your life is more valuable to them than you can imagine. If you tell them the gospel, but live to yourself, they will never believe it. Give your life for theirs every day, joyfully. Lay down pettiness. Lay down fussiness. Lay down resentment about the dishes, about the laundry, about how no one knows how hard you work.

Stop clinging to yourself and cling to the cross. There is more joy and more life and more laughter on the other side of death than you can possibly carry alone.
