Oh my stars. Hilarious. Makes me want to live in the south and do crazy things like they do. But it's probably all more glamorous on TV eh? Would I really skin squirrels and eat their brains or want an alligator hanging out in my car port, if I even had a car port?? nah.....

Cat in the Hat

It was a Success!!
We had such a fun morning together - walked around downtown, saw the beautiful lake, saw the show, played at a park, went up and down a huge glass elevator....

The play was really fun and cute. Very family friendly and lots of kids were in there so that takes the pressure off if Lucy were to be loud or cry at any point. She did get nervous of the cat a couple times and said "Mommy Hold You!!" And "I want to go home!" - at which point I started feeding her skittles and she was A-OK.
After the show they had some Q & A with the cast and did some fun interactive games with the audience and Lucy enjoyed that. Then we waited in line and met Nick and Sally but when I sat down next to the cat for a photo, Lucy started crying hysterically, so we high-tailed it out of there and hit the park.
A lovely morning - and I highly recommend a trip to the city on a saturday morning. Got there around 8:45 a.m. and home around 12:30 p.m. took about 30 mins in and 40 mins out and everything was easy! Hooray!

Pinterest NOT-Fail

So I recently heard of the website pinterestfail.com and it's pretty funny and just other things I have seen about people trying different things and "epic failing." Pretty humorous.
With that said....I have done pretty well on pinterest. Recently talked to a friend and we both have the problem of pinning A LOT and actually trying VERY LITTLE of our pins. But really of the recipes, cleaning tips, organization or decorating ideas that I have tried, I have been happy & impressed.

So this one was a little hard for me to believe but since it only cost $1.99, I knew it was worth trying....
It also made me ECSTATIC to know that I am not the only one with NASTY grout, chaulking or  whatever the heck it's called....
If you clean your tub rim and the mold or mildew junk just won't budge, you HAVE to try this.
I have tried scrubbing it with bleach and every cleaner as well as letting the industrial strength, nasty smelling junk from Home Depot sit on it for 15 mins and rinsing and it's all done NOTHING.

So here's the long awaited site I found. It will change your shower forever if your shower was anything like mine.....(And look below for before and after pics from our bath!)

BEFORE

AFTER

Conclusion - Worked AMAZINGLY well - I am just going to do it one more time and the black which turned to pale orange or some faded color will probably disappear with round 2!

Also - be sure to by the small $1.99 package of CelluCotton (or 2) - at first they thought they only had a big box of it for $15

Washing Pillows

Ok - so it's not just me....
Yellow pillows are gross and I didn't know if you could wash pillows or not but I read this blog and I will definitely try it!
Here's the recipe below for what to wash them with and a before and after pic from the blog. You should definitely read the whole blog post here:
http://www.onegoodthingbyjillee.com/2013/02/how-to-wash-whiten-yellowed-pillows.html

Here's the recipe originally from Martha Stewart (who also suggests that you wash your pillow twice a year! whoa!)

  • HOT HOT HOT water
  • 1 cup of laundry detergent
  • 1 cup powdered dishwasher detergent
  • 1 cup bleach (you could try “A Natural Bleach Alternative if you are opposed to chlorine bleach)
  • 1/2 cup borax
Not only did the whole pillow-washing process turn out to be much easier than I anticipated, it worked like a CHARM!
Just look at these “BEFORE” and “AFTER” pictures! It’s almost like my poor pillows were just WAITING for me to rescue them! ;-)

State Art

ON SALE Michigan State Map Art - 8.5X11 Ornate Birds Love Map Giclee Print - Tree Flowers & Bird - Refreshing Aqua LHA-094-02-022

I love these - I was thinking about getting one for each state I've lived in but they all look pretty similar. I have seen some ideas on pinterest using maps or something so maybe that would be a better and cheaper route?
Has anyone done anything like this or have any ideas or links to share?
